Celebrating Medicinal Plants

Even though mushrooms are not plants, they too can provide us with many unique health benefits. On June 10th from 10AM-5PM, join us at the Montreal Botanical Gardens for a celebration of medicinal plants (and mushrooms!) organized by the  Guild of Quebec Herbalists.

The Real Coffee Mushrooms

Our longtime collaborator Émile Glück-Thaler is experimenting growing oyster mushrooms on used coffee grounds in an effort to reduce waste while providing wholesome, local food. Check out some of his first results!

Party at the Village

Surrounded by lakes and mountains,100km from Montreal, St-Étienne-de-Bolton is holding it's annual fair August 24th and 25th : «Gens de nos villages». We will be there, taking groups out into the forest to hunt mushrooms, giving informative talks and showcasing our own unique products. 

Wanted: Wooded Land

We will start our seasonnal gathering excursions soon. Our plan this year is to explore as many new mushroom gathering locations as possible. If you have a wooded lot within 120 km of Montreal and you want to develop its mycological potential, please get in touch with us.

Maitake

Maitake, or "dancing mushroom" in Japanese, grows on oak. It can also be cultivated on wooded substrat. One specimen can easily weigh several pounds. A popular edible, it combines medicinal fortitude with gastronomical quality. Maitake is an outstanding source of vitamin D for winter.
